1. The $0.20 Listing Fee

Whenever you create a new listing on Etsy or sell an item from an active listing, Etsy charges a $0.20 USD fee. A single listing stays active for 4 months. If an item sells, Etsy automatically renews the listing (if you have multiple quantities in stock) and charges another $0.20.

2. The 6.5% Transaction Fee

When a sale occurs, Etsy charges a 6.5% transaction fee. A critical point that surprises many beginners: this 6.5% applies to the entire amount paid by the customer, including:

Item retail price
Shipping charged to the buyer
Optional gift-wrapping services

For instance, if you sell an item for $30 and charge $5 for shipping, the 6.5% fee applies to $35 ($2.28 transaction fee).

3. Etsy Payments Processing Fees

Nearly all Etsy sales are processed through Etsy Payments. This payment processing fee covers credit card interchange, fraud protection, and bank transfers:

United States: 3.0% + $0.25 USD per transaction
United Kingdom: 4.0% + £0.20 GBP per transaction
Canada: 4.0% + $0.25 CAD per transaction
Australia: 3.0% + $0.25 AUD per transaction

4. Offsite Ads Fee

Etsy partners with Google, Bing, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest to run external advertisements. If a buyer clicks an external ad and buys from your shop within 30 days, an advertising fee applies:

15% Fee: For shops that have made less than $10,000 in sales in the past 365 days. You can opt out in your shop settings.
12% Fee: Once your shop exceeds $10,000 in 12-month sales, participation becomes mandatory for the lifetime of your shop.
